3D Printing Flexability, Injection Molding Scale
Establish a large scale 3D manufacturing process providing PPE to those in need.
Then leverage the process to provide affordable manufacturing to small businesses.
Primarily nursing homes, schools and first responders.
Use the corner cutter to lop the bottom corners off, then punch the mounting holes
3D print stacks, smooth rough spots, then peel each frame from the stack
Package Face Shields
We now box them in stack-able 24" cubes of 250.
We find those in need who were missed by other organizations.
We pack them in the back of the truck and go! We also have trailers and other vehicles for large deliveries or rainy days.
After all is said and done and each shield has been delivered, they average out to $1 per shield. We typically run at 500 per day when we have funding and have capacity for 1,000 per day. Private orders are $2 per shield.
To start everything up again at this price point we need a minimum of $10,000 to bulk order materials.
It all started with a call from Steve, the leader of Fab Newport. He knew about Will's aptitude for electronics including 3D printing and wanted to make a difference.
The money came from a collaboration between Fab Newport and URI Rapid Responders. It allowed us to start things in our living room, but limited us and we had to contribute a lot to keep things running.
In order to make a bigger difference we reached out to the Governor's Workforce Board and were awarded the grant that allowed us to grow into what we are today.
